The Power of Bach Flower Remedies

The beautiful thirty-eight flower remedies, founded by Dr. Edward Bach (pronounced Batch), address the emotional state of the being at an energetic level which has profound implications on the physical body. They are extremely powerful and extremely effective.

Rescue Remedy is used by many for trauma, shock, and high stress as it helps the mind and body stabilize when needed. It is made up of five of the thirty-eight flower essences, indicated below with an *. I always have a bottle with me in the car, in my handbag, and especially when I am walking my dogs as you never know who or what you might encounter. Many bottles have been given away throughout the years.

We use Bach Flower Rescue Cream for all stings, bites, infections, and trauma to the body. It is my number one go to for all tick bites. It is a wonderful resource to have available. I always have a tube in the car or on me when walking the dogs in the summer months.

The Thirty-Eight Bach Flowers | Each With Their Own Amazing Emotional Healing Properties

The thirty-eight Bach flowers essences cover the thirty-eight negative states of the mind. These have been divided into seven groups: fear, uncertainty and indecision, loneliness, lack of interest in the present, oversensitivity to outside influences, despondency and despair and over-care for the well-being of others.

How to Use

Special specific remedies are mixed for every being to bring them back into balance based on their emotional and physical symptoms. One uses a resource, like the books mentioned below, to investigate each flower remedies properties, to determine which flower essence the being-in-need of balancing may require. The more defined the remedy, the more powerful it may be as the body, mind and spirit are receiving a well-defined set of instructions. It is advised, no more than 7 may be mixed in one bottle.

How to Prepare a Mixture
  • A sterile empty 30ml amber dropper bottle is required. I always have a few on hand.
  • Prepare one bottle per animal, as typically the flowers required will be different
  • Add filtered water, distilled water – preferably not tap water. If tap water is the only option, then golden age the water before using.
  • Add two drops of each flower essence required, purchased individually; no more than 7 essences are recommended to be given at one time. This becomes the treatment bottle for your animal.
  • Then from this treatment bottle, give the being in question a minimum of four drops four times per day in the mouth, on the paws, on the snout or on the ears. The remedy must sink into the skin.

I suggest using one of the three resources mentioned below as a guide, myself or hire a professional Bach practitioner. It may seem quite straight forward, but it is interesting how some remedies can be used for things one might not think of.

Before Giving to an Animal

Please always communicate to the animal what you are doing and why. It is important we always give them the opportunity to refuse. We must learn to listen to them and follow their lead. Before mixing, I would ask about each flower, by using one’s hands as a yes and no, or by offering them to smell the bottle if one has all the flowers on hand to receive consent, direction from the animal. If, for some reason this is not possible, then the following dialogue is important I feel.

Dialogue with Animal, Prior to Giving

“I would like to give this remedy to you. It is made from the energy of flowers and mixed with water. It is to help you heal your body, mind, and spirit.

It is non-toxic, completely in tune with nature and will not hurt your body in any way. If your body does not need it, it will flush it from your system. You do not have to worry about it hurting you, only helping you. May I proceed to give this to you?”

Something like this, so they have the information and give consent. If they turn away, then this is information and means the mixture is not accurate for their constitution. Re-test. And then re-ask.

Animals will also self-medicate on Bach flowers. Place four drops in a ceramic/glass bowl of water, and they will drink as needed. This is powerful to monitor as the pet owner can then see what is being selected, and how much. Change the water a few times a day. This is medicine and must be kept clean and free of bacteria as much as possible.
