Store-Bought Bone Broth & the Digestive Tract
About Store-Bought Bone Broth & the Digestive Tract
The challenge with most store-bought broths is YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IS IN THEM. We like to believe companies tell the truth, but most do not, and the wording – one has to watch the wording as marketers are very crafty how the words are presented – saying what they want you to believe which may not be true. This is all clever propaganda, all designed to deceive the buyer for maximum profit.
Most broths have garlic, and onion in them and MSG, monosodium gluconate, which cannot be fed to any animal. The broths with only garlic can also cause immense harm, especially to our feline friends.
The following are examples of what to watch out for and not to buy. Both products I found when working on a dog and cat when drilling down on what was throwing their digestive tract into a mess causing vomiting and contributing to painful guts. “Canned broth, MSG” is showing up a lot in humans too which is hurting the digestive tract immensely.
Boullion Chicken Cubes

This company is very deceptive. As they have purposely left off their website the ingredient list of their products showing only the nutritional facts!
On another website, selling their product, the ingredient list may be found. This is what is presented:
Ingredients: Sea Salt, Corn Starch*, Mineral Salt, Non-Hydrogenated Palm Oil*, Yeast Extract, Chicken Fat*, Parsley*, Lovage*, Rosemary*, Chicken Meat Powder*, Natural chicken flavouring, Turmeric*, Rosemary Extract. *certified organic
The following ingredients highlighted in red are toxic for all organic life especially our animals with MSG amongst the descriptions which I am sure the buyer is perhaps unaware of.
Pet Broth, Reads Well but ….
These are examples of broths causing damage to the digestive tract because people think feeding herbs and turmeric daily cannot harm the animal, but they do. These are medicine and for some animals they are causing immense damage.
If the bone broth below was just bones and water, then the broth would be fine as the body can process this out using the nutrients. But the rest is herbal medicine and no one’s body needs herbal medicine given to it daily month to month. This will cause immense strain on the organs and glands as I have been seeing in my work. This product below was affecting a cat client’s stomach with the ingredients highlighted in red being toxic to the body.

Bone Broth for Animals
Should be bones and filtered water cooked over long periods of time, a minimum of five hours. Never use turkey. Lamb is usually very strong to smell and tends to be greasy. Ideally, beef or chicken – grass-fed animals pastured all day in freedom are the best source.
