Cats

Vital Signs

According to Dr. Richard Pitcairn’s, “Complete Guide to Natural Health for Dogs and Cats”, the following applies to your cat:

Body Temperature
100.5 to 101.5 F / 38.05 to 38.6 C
If temperature taken at home; may be slightly higher if at a vet’s office.  This range is more restrictive than what vet’s use, it is more accurate due to experience with FEVER cases.

Pulse
110-130 beats / minute, at rest
Pulse rate higher if excited or physical exertion.  Lower rate is normal for large cats; higher rate in small cats.

Respiratory Rate
20-30 breaths / minute, at rest

Common Cat “System Damaging Products”, Do Not Use

Most of these products below are marketed specifically for cats.  I am not addressing toxic industry food here, as all industry food does not support a strong, healthy, pain-free feline body.  Nor am I addressing every pharmaceutical product, which in most cases, cause immense harm to the body.

What I am addressing is what is on most vet records which has caused immense harm to the body.

Please do not use any of them in or on your animal ever. You will be causing damage to the body and inflicting unbelievable pain. I am referring to organ, neuro and cellular damage.

  • Advantage II, or any Flea and Tick Products
  • Anti-Anxiety Medications – all:  If your cat needs these, please call me
  • Cerenia: lethal drug, manipulates the brain, hurts and damages the body; do not allow this into your animal
  • Drontal: For worming, absolutely lethal for the body and hurts the heart, liver and kidneys.
  • Fel-O-Guard+3:  Please do your homework thoroughly before this is given to your cat
  • Feliway:  If it is advised to not touch a product, then it is not to be diffused in your home to be absorbed in your system.
  • Fortiflora:  Has way too much garbage in it.  Please use a product such as Adored Beast.
  • FVRCP:  Please do your homework thoroughly before this is given to your cat
  • Nutricalm
  • Optixcare Eye Cleaning Wipes
  • Optixcare L-Lysine Chews
  • Profender MD, and all heart worm pharma, damage not only the neuro system but also all the organs. Should not be on the market.
  • Revolution, or any Flea and Tick Products
  • Strongid-T, and all heart worm pharma, so much damage and pain caused
  • Therabit Mellow Soft Chews
  • Verm-X Crunchies:  full of toxic garbage
  • Zylkene

With regards to all pharmaceuticals, chemicals, please search for the Material Safety & Data Sheet (MSDS) on line which spells out the potential damage each pharmaceutical does to your animal’s body.  And they all do, damage.

Books | Health & Healing

There is a tonne of resources mentioned on every page in the Healing Gallery. Below are some of my favourites I have used consistently throughout the years for our felines.

The Natural Cat  by Anitra Frazier with Norma Eckroate
This is MUST in every household, as amazing information may be found in this book about everything to do with feline care. If you are going to buy any book about cats, this is the one to choose. Diet is addressed in detail and conversion from industry to real-life force food is addressed here and easy to follow. I suggest every client invest in Anitra’s gift to us all when they are looking for natural support, and reference.

Dr. Pitcairn’s Complete Guide to Natural Health for Dogs and Cats by Richard H. Pitcairn, DVM, PHD and Susan Hubble Pitcairn
This book is a “bible” for looking after animals with nature in mind. It addresses homeopathy and when and how to use also. A fabulous investment for your pet care library.

Four Paws, Five Directions, A Guide to Chinese Medicine for Cats and Dogs by Cheryl Schwarz, DVM
What is so important to understand is how an animal’s body is connected on twelve meridians, and how the meridians travel through the body. All the important organs governing, and running the body are addressed in this book. I am always explaining to clients when we are helping the body heal – your animal is scratching “there” because this is his liver speaking, for example. This is another MUST have for the pet care library.

Les valeurs requises de l’alimentation de l’HOMME et de ses ANIMAUX DOMESTIQUES by Eric Vanden Eynde DVM
Dr. Vanden Eynde not only deals with how to look after your animals but explains how we are all connected to the planet and her rhythms and this needs to respected and understood when helping others, our animals.  To not understand is to go against the natural balance of the planet and all she offers.  Diet is addressed for young and older animals.  A lot to digest as not many people look at “the whole of everything” when it comes to supporting and healing animals.  (Available in French, Flemish and English pdf.  Please reach out if you are interested in reading this.)

Animal Self-Medication by Caroline Ingraham
This is a MUST HAVE in any household who is lucky enough to live with a cat.  Caroline explains how to offer the remedies to the cats so they may direct their own healing.  Note:  Please address diet as any cat needs real fresh food nothing from industry and no chemicals in needles or topically.

The Nature of Animal Healing, The Definitive Holistic Medicine Guide to Caring for Your Dog and Cat by Dr. Martin Goldstein, DVM
Dr. Goldstein is a pioneer, turning to nature for healing long before many had questioned the toxic conventional approach. His book has a lot of wonderful stories and great reference material.

The Ultimate Pet Healthcare Guide, Breakthrough Nutrition and Integrative Care for Cats and Dogs by Gary Richter, MS, DVM
Dr. Gary Richter has produced the product Nutra-Thrive which I am finding in a lot of households. It is important to understand this product contains a lot of medicinal products which not every animal needs. This of course goes back to the “one product” fits all which is not how any life forms are designed. However, his intention is well-meaning as he wishes to help those animals fed on low quality industry pellets – some nutrition.

The Animal Healer: A Unique Insight into the Healing, Care and Well-being of Animals by Elizabeth Whiter
https://www.healinganimalsfoundation.org
Elizabeth is an amazing healer, who has been working with energy, and the natural world for years, helping animals heal. It was her horse, beautiful Wow, who showed her there was more to healing than what she thought at the time.

You Can Heal Your Pet by Elizabeth Whiter and Rohini Sathish
This is Elizabeth’s second book with more “how-to” information, also combining the natural world with main-stream medicine in healing modalities.

Coconut Therapy for Pets by Bruce Fife, ND
Coconut oil is selected by all cats I am working with to clean their systems. It is an essential ingredient in helping the body heal and clean. This book is a wonderful read about the powers and applications of the coconut.

The Holistic Animal Handbook, A Guide to Nutrition, Health and Communication by Kate Solisti-Mattelon and Patrice Mattelon

The Complete Guide to Holistic Cat Care by Celeste Yarnall, PHD and Jean Hofve, DVM
This is a comprehensive easy read about looking after your cat naturally.

Natural Nutrition for Cats by Kymythy R. Schultze, C.N., C.N.C.
This book is all about raw feeding, how to feed, and why.

Cats Homeopathic Remedies by George McLeod
This book is excellent as it explains the remedies for each circumstance.

Dr. Kidd’s Guide to Herbal Cat Care by Randy Kidd, DVM, PHD
This is a wonderful book, as Dr. Kidd breaks down the herbs based on the organs in the body and explains how to use.

Low Stress Handling, Restraint and Behaviour Modification of Dogs and Cats by Sophia Yin, DVM, MS
I love this book, as so many people handle animals in a way which is so disrespectful. People take and do, and it causes so much upset to the being. Dr. Yin demonstrates how animals should be handled in veterinary situations so they are honoured during the process of investigation.

Catification, Designing a Happy and Stylish Home for Your Cat (and You!) by Jackson Galaxy and Kate Benjamin
This is a wonderful book as the authors show you how to create a really stimulating environment for your cat if your cat does not have access to the outdoors.  So many wonderful ideas.

Declawing | Inhumane

Never ever, ever, declaw your cat. This is like taking a human’s first knuckle on their finger off. This is the procedure. This is beyond inhumane, and has been outlawed in the UK for decades.

If you are thinking this, please rehome your animal. No being should be manipulated and tortured for anybody’s convenience.

Websites | Diet

The following sites provide valuable information about how to prepare and transition your cat to a raw diet and about why a raw diet is so crucial.

Cat Info by Lisa A. Pierson, DVM
https://catinfo.org
A lot of fabulous information here.  I do not agree with vaccination “just to vaccinate”, so question this section here, but a lot of good information otherwise.

Feline Nutrition
https://feline-nutrition.org/nutrition
A tonne of information here about felines.

No More Vet Bills by Nora Lenz
http://www.nomorevetbills.com/
This site is specific to raw feeding for both cats and dogs, rotating the diet and fasting for a few days. Nora has an e-book which explains her methodology. Nora also provides insight into vaccination and sites which support the lack of evidence behind all this misinformation coming towards the pet consumer in the name of fear and the damage being done.

TC Feline by Natascha Wille
http://tcfeline.com
TC Feline provides a mineral mix so your feline is never short on the essentials. This avenue allows for a quick transition to a raw diet versus grinding carcasses demonstrated on www.feline-nutrition.org.  Regardless, feed your cat fresh food, nothing from the pet food industry.

And please find below another video about making raw cat food:

Katriz
https://shop.katriscat.com/products/katris-modular-cat-tree-bundle
Our cats are outdoor cats so not much indoor interests them.  But they love this!  It is very cool to have in the house and you can actually hang it along your walls to give them another passage way if you have the space.  It also is great for elderly cats to give them an extra step up onto places.  Love this!

Caroline Ingraham
www.carolineingraham.com
Caroline Ingraham is the founder of Applied Zoopharmacognosey. Her on-line videos are a fabulous source of information as well as her beautifully laid out books. She also offers seminars around the world and her on—line store provides all the ingredients I use for the animals to provide this wonderful healing process. I began using her method 5-6 years ago and continue to use her beautiful work daily to heal all 2 and 4 legged beings.  Cats are very easy to work with as they are very clear about what they need and do not need to heal themselves.
