Get Informed & Question Everything
From my perspective, all animals should be handed over with proper information about nutrition. Sadly, this is not what is happening, and the pet owner is left to figure this out. What is important to know, is all life forms are connected to Nature, to the planet. We are all divinely designed as part of the planet, in alignment with the Laws of Nature. This means our animals as well need to eat food that is directly from the earth, not in a bag, not in can, definitely not in plastic, else the body will be forced into a state of dis-ease.
Sourcing from the earth is medicine with all the nutrients, minerals and vitamins provided to sustain the body. What is crucial is enzymes. And enzymes are ONLY found in raw food. Feeding cooked food means the body is weakened as the pancreas has to then produce additional enzymes to process this extra load. This organ is not designed to handle this “load” day in and day out. Therefore, every animal needs access to a diet that has raw vegetables, nuts, seeds, fruits, fresh nutrient-rich grass, nutrient rich hay, and a little raw meat, depending on the species of course. This is health, this is in balance with the Laws of Nature.
All minerals and vitamins play a vital role in the functioning of the body. I have listed details on each with source references. The key is not a tonne of supplements but a fabulous fresh, raw diet, with all the elements of toxicity negated as much as possible. I cannot emphasize the issue of toxicity enough. The less we interfere with the divine creation of the body the better the systems operate in ease, not in dis-ease.
Also, it is important to understand “animal only” “pet only” in most instances, means unsafe. Your animals body deserves nothing less in nutrients, goodness, and taste than does yours. And this does not come from a production belt, sitting in a warehouse loaded with preservatives, and junk. This is processed waste product for shareholders returns. All of it. And all “animal only” pharma translates to “unsafe, not tested thoroughly”, and from a corporation stand point – “your animal(s) are absolutely expendable for profit”. Any investigation into risk/reward analysis in these corporations, and it will be found, the risk is a far more inexpensive route to take than making an ethical choice.
We all need to ask – who is being tested on with these products anyway? Our beautiful animals. Some captured at birth to live in a cage for life. If we all lived according to nature – no testing, no harm, would be caused as we would be in alignment with nature.
With the depletion of nutrients in the Earth, mismanagement of land, and toxic chemicals, animals who live on pastures are finding it harder, and harder to not present dis-ease. Calcium, magnesium, and iodine being the most impacted.
Pet Owners Responsibility
It is your responsibility that your animal is getting fabulous nutrition from reputable sources. Do not leave it to others to tell you what to do, as many people will not say “I do not know” and pretend they do, when they do not. It is up to you to become informed, and understand the needs of your animal’s body.
From my perspective, animals should not be handed over to anyone without proper and complete instruction about how to support this animal to thrive throughout their lifetime in alignment with the planet. But this is not the world we have created nor demand. Most people are participating in a non-thinking programmed one, and our animals are suffering as a result. It is time every single one of us go back to nature, and understand how the body works in conjunction with the seasons, and rhythms of the planet, our home. For we are one, everything is connected.
Minerals | The Essentials
What does the body need to run on? The following are very important to ensure the body is receiving its full nutritional requirements. If you are reading a “pet industry food” bag or can – please stop and throw the bag/can in the garbage where it belongs, and go buy fresh food based on the list below. Your animal’s well-being and longevity depends on it. As does the planet.
Essential Minerals
It is All About the Minerals
It is important to note, behind every vitamin deficiency there is a mineral deficiency. If minerals are maintained in the body, vitamin deficiencies should not occur. A lot of the minerals require synergy in the body with other minerals and vitamins, not only for absorption, but to provide ultimate operational support. Iodine levels first need to be checked to make sure the thyroid is happy. What is depleting these optimal balances is pharmaceuticals, vaccination, dewormers, pesticides, and chemical sprays, phosphates, used on the land.
Mineral Inhibitors | Toxic Halogen Derivatives | Bromine, fluoride, chlorine (On chart above, located second column in on the right side). Therefore, if you are buying baked goods (bromine), and drinking tap water (chlorine and fluoride), these are full of halogens.

How it supports the body | Maintenance of thyroid and adrenal glands, healthy skin, hoof and hair growth. Supports breaking down of protein, and carbohydrate molecules.
Food focus | Legumes, nuts and seeds, liver, sweet potato, bananas, broccoli, avocadoes, seaweed, brewer’s yeast
Eggs | Raw egg whites contain an enzyme which is said to interfere with body utilization of Biotin; best always feed cooked eggs to your animal as cooked egg yolk contains biotin
Coenzyme Q10 | Ubiquinone
When it may be needed | Diseases of the mouth, diabetes, muscular issues, digestive issues
How it supports the body | Production of energy in every cell, very powerful antioxidant
Food focus | Mackerel, salmon, sardines, beef, spinach
Supplementation | Oil form best
Vitamin C | Ascorbate, Ascorbic Acid
The BODY Strengthening Vitamin + Youth Enhancer
Limit | Follow Bowel Tolerance Test to know when the body has its required amount; if stool soft – back up the dose a little
Hot Weather | Helps body manage exposure to extreme temperatures, increases tolerance
When it may be needed | When any being is showing signs of struggle, emotional, or physical; depletes under stress ***
How it supports the body | Essential for running the body, massive scope of functionality from repair to maintenance, strengthens collagen, vital for cellular function and repair
Food focus | Citrus foods, yes, dogs can eat oranges, grapefruits, etc. yellow peppers, plums, cantaloupe, kiwi fruit, persimmons, strawberries, papayas, parsley, kale
Animals who produce Vitamin C | Supplementation shown to benefit them, 2,000 mg per day
Older Beings | Vitamin C manufacturing slows down so supplementation is necessary. Dosage depends on size of animal.

How to Proceed
All animals if not being fed a raw diet, depending on their geographic location, will need supplementation. The food supply is not protected to ensure the nutrients are supplied, and people are not always informed about what the body needs. Sourcing is paramount, as a lot of the products on the shelves are junk.
Heavy Metal Clearing
I use Dowsing, muscle testing and sometimes hair testing to find out what the body is short on, and what the body needs to support the detox process with regards to heavy metals especially where I have adopted an animal where injections and deworming have taken place.
- Dowsing one may ask what the body is short on, or where there is an imbalance. I have provided below pdf files for both minerals, and vitamins for dowsing. It is important to know “what needs what” to run on in the body, the essential synergies, to make sense of the information provided. Everything must tie together, and make sense when one is dowsing to make sure the answers indeed match the questions, and the being in question.
- Muscle testing is similar to dowsing in this aspect regarding drilling down. It is an extremely valuable tool as it allows you to zone in on what may be the issue, and question supplements you may be thinking about using, before buying them. You do not want to put anything into a body which is not needed as this may very well cause more imbalance. When I am tired, I find dowsing much easier to use, or helps confirm my findings.
- Hair testing provides a picture of what the animal is actually depleted of or off-balance with mineral-wise, with heavy metal imbalances registered too. This report can be used as a guide to balance foods which the animal may need more of. For example, low in iron – feed high iron vegetables. Else use muscle testing or dowsing to determine the imbalances directly.
Therefore, based on what the animal communicates, what your muscle testing says, and with the hair testing report, the supplements are then determined. I am a big fan of a probiotic / enzymes to help the gut stay healthy, Vitamin C, E, B12, and magnesium, most animals are running low on these, with a green algae supplement. A lot depends on what the diet is providing. I also use dowsing to correct imbalances.
This is where muscle testing is invaluable because you can ask daily and quickly what the animal’s system needs. And this extends to quantity, time of day, more than once a day if they are really ill, etc. I also ask how long a supplement may be required, days, weeks, etc.
For those supplements sold to be given daily forever, the animal’s system never ever confirms this. The time frame, and quantity becomes individual medicine, directed by the animal. This is providing what the body needs, and only when it needs it. This takes all the guess work out, and honours the being. It also means imbalances are not being created by giving them the same thing daily, and it makes one look at the label more. Companies change, ingredients change, and when we go into “production line feeding” this is dangerous because we are not paying attention to the details, definitely not to the labels. By the time you notice the product is not okay for your animal, a lot of damage could be done. Being specific, also saves you a tonne of money as there is no guessing or buying the “latest” product being marketed, you are buying what the body needs, and quality, real nutrition.
Zoopharmacognosey plays an important role here too. This is where the animal directs what they need to balance, and replenish their body. The animal selects a few times daily unlimited quantity of nutrients until the system is topped up. The animal always dictates volume. The animal knows. This becomes an ongoing process throughout their lifetime so they may choose their quantities, and provide you, the pet owner, information. The self-selection herbs are indicated under each vitamin and mineral for information purposes.
I also use muscle testing here to narrow down the selection in certain instances. For instance, I can look at a dog and see “nettle with flax oil will be his choice”, and then bowls of this are consumed until he says no more required, or he is searching for something else. It is all about paying attention, and listening to them.
The Importance of Fats | The Oils
Fish oil and salmon oil seem to be heavily marketed for our pets. The fact the bottles say “for animal consumption only” sends me running the other way. When I see this, I know the product is full of junk. The majority of these oils, if not all, are rancid. If you would like to give fish oil, the two sources I suggest are from Dobias, and Rosita listed below in Resources. For the omegas, if you do not wish to go this route, the animals will select flax oil as an alternative. But this must be chosen, not placed in food directly. This is extremely important to understand.
This is assuming the product is from a reputable source. The animals know what they need and how much. Offer the bottle and if they go to lick it, then offer on a plate separately. Flax oil should be organic, first extraction and purchased in the refrigerated section of the store. Therefore, the oils which are offered on a self-selection basis only are:
- Coconut oil
- Hemp oil (I am not referring to CBD oil here)
- Rice bran oil
- Flax Oil (Ground flax seed, image below, chosen by a lot of animals too)
Each have their own individual healing properties for the body. They are medicine to the body, NOT food. This must be clearly understood.
The only oils which may go directly in the food, in small quantities, are: olive oil, garlic oil, sesame oil, wheatgerm oil, and pumpkin seed oil. Again, all other oils must be selected.
Alternative Sources of Fats
Nuts and seeds. They must be ground and placed in the fridge. Sprinkled on food they are an excellent source of fats, with minerals, and vitamins. The only nut which is not good for animals are macadamia nuts. Nut butters, organic and from a reputable source are fabulous too. I would always dowse them to make sure no presence of mold or fungus exists to be on the safe side as peanut butter was propagating a fungus in one of my clients.
Garlic Oil | How to Prepare
Do not use the stove to make this, or any warmth, you will destroy important properties. Peel and cut bulb of garlic placing it in a dark jar. Fill the jar with olive oil, cold pressed, first extraction, organic. Leave for 15 days in a dark, cool place. Filter the garlic out of the oil. Use the garlic for cooking. The garlic oil is good for 6 months stored in a dark, cool place. Give 2 teaspoons to each animal twice a week. When there is a full moon, give the garlic oil for three consecutive days, this clears all parasites!
A few more delightful essentials are bee pollen, image below on left, and brewer’s yeast (Non-GMO), image below on right, which provide essential nutrients helping boost the immune system.
Feeding the Mitochondria at Cellular Level
What is so important is feeding energy to your animal’s cells. Are the energy centers of the body being looked after? This is essential to the life force of the being, the body. If the Mito are not getting their life force food, then the body cannot thrive, it will struggle, break down and always be lethargic, as it has no energy. What are the essentials according to Dr. Robert Ealy for humans? Quercetin, Omega’s, and Bee Pollen are a must, with chlorella, Vitamin C, D, E, Zinc, a multi vitamin, and glutathione for anti-oxidants. Our animals’ biology is very similar. Life force must be provided to sustain life. Source | Unbreakable Series
The Importance of Chlorophyll
All of our cells require chlorophyll to function. Chlorophyll is very similar to fully oxidized blood. It is reported chlorophyll keeps worms and parasites out of the intestinal tract. Chlorophyll comes from all the greens. It is essential the greens are rotated in the diet, preferably given seasonally, and fed raw or slightly blanched.
Greens High in Chlorophyll
Spinach
Collard greens
Mustard Greens
Alfalfa Sprouts
Parsley
Broccoli
Brussel Sprouts
Bok Choy
Romaine Lettuce
Green Cabbage
Asparagus
Green Beans
Green Peas
Grasses High in Chlorophyll
Grasses high in chlorophyll which are SELF SELECTED by the animal during Applied Zoopharmacognosey sessions: chlorella, spirulina, barley grass and wheat grass. Please note, these are not food, and therefore, should never be added to any animal’s meals.
Images above are of barley grass, highly selected in powder form by animals run-down, highly strung, and/or lacking in magnesium. Barley grass is also selected to aid in purging something from their systems, usually toxins / bacteria or foreign substances which are usually swimming in mucous in their gut.
Here is one of my beautiful being clients, handsome Jasper – who just finished selecting his spirulina for the day. He knows what he NEEDS. We must LISTEN. (Photo courtesy of S Skinberg, March 2018)
Spirulina, shown below, will be selected by animals in either powder form dry, wet, with a little water or with the self-selected oil/macerate during their Zoopharmacognosey session. They are very particular how they take it into their bodies. Spirulina is high in nutrients, especially protein, supports the repairing of cells, and binds to toxicity (including heavy metals), helping the body clear the unwanted.
The Importance of Coconut Water
I am a huge fan of coconut oil. The water was new for me. Once I read this book, “Coconut Water for Health and Healing”, by Bruce Fife I became a huge fan of this also. Bruce Fife is a naturopath. All his books are fabulous reads, and resources. The history, and information about coconut water is truly amazing.
I invite people to offer coconut water to your pets, especially if they have eye issues, and see if they select it. During my lab’s healing journey, she was consuming a bottle a day while my other dog was not interested in the slightest.
The sourcing of the water matters massively, as not every product on the shelf is good to use. Please buy product only in glass bottles, no plastic or tetra packs, which actually narrows down the selection immensely. It must be in its original form, and not have been exposed to high heat for processing, else it is useless.
I also drink glasses throughout the day and especially before I go to bed, my eyes feel amazing in the morning, ready for the day!
The Magical Powers of Cilantro
If any animal has been subjected to multiple pharmaceutical injections, or pharma in general, they will have heavy metals in their brain. Therefore, it is vital cilantro become part of their “cleaners” to help flush the metals out of the body, and their brain. This is chelation. Muscle testing how much daily, for how long, is imperative as it is very, very strong when it is fresh. Animals may also choose to process the essential oil via smell or choose seaweed to work with. What they choose indicates what they are trying to heal, to clear from their system, very important information.
Dis-ease, is All About Mineral & Vitamin Deficiency
I read books all the time. The older the better in some cases because this is where all the amazing information may be found by wonderful healers I feel. Below is a fabulous talk by an amazing wild life veterinarian turned naturopathic doctor, Joel D. Wallach DVM ND, about how all dis-ease is linked to nutrient deficiency. His book,” Dead Doctors Do Not Lie” is a fabulous, very educational read.
Example of Deficiencies
- Cramps and Twitches: Calcium
- Diabetes: Chromium & Vanadium; 4-6 months for the body to recorrect
- Gingivitis (Receding Gums): Calcium
- Kidney Stones: Calcium
- Insomnia: Calcium
- Low Back Pain: Calcium
- Loss of sense of smell and taste: Zinc
Dr. Joel D. Wallach’s list of 90 Essential Nutrients can be found here https://mineraldoctor.com/90-essential-nutrients and his videos mapping imbalance to nutrient deficiency can be found here: https://mineraldoctor.com/health-facts and here https://mineraldoctor.com/videos.
It is important to note, reading Pat Coleby’s book, Natural Horse Care, she too concurs, all imbalance is due to mineral / vitamin deficiency. Either diets are inaccurate for the species or / and the animals are being exposed to pesticides and phosphates, draining their systems of the essentials to run in balance. She has witnessed a horse founder in a matter of hours just being exposed to phosphates draining their system of magnesium. Soaked the horse with Epsom salts, had the horse stable in hours. Pat also lists in her book all ailments in horses under the mineral where deficiency responsible. Such as: Fence Chewing | Cribbing | Windsucking: Copper
Example of Deficiencies
- Infectious diseases
- Foot issues
- Mastitis
About Supplements & the Industry
What is a really informative read is Slaying the Supplement Myths by Dr. Steve Chaney, PhD. This explains how the drive for profit trumps science. That it is expensive to produce a quality product, the companies do not put their products through rigorous testing, it is even hard to prove their products work as this would take years, and years of studying. That the product labels are extremely inaccurate and misleading. Also,
- Primary prevention almost impossible to prove
- Double blind clinical studies take 20-30 years to develop
- Many clinical studies are far too short to be measure disease outcomes
- Active ingredients rarely in the bottle as stated
- “Medical Review Journal’s” which have fancy titles are essentially advertising journals but one would not know this if not looking deeper
- There is way too much product on the market for the FDA to keep on top of. And even when one product is shut down, it is started up under another company. If this is the case, surely the pet products are not even on their radar.
It is very interesting, because he explains how manipulated we all are through marketing as no one is digging into the studies, and understanding how this product came to market.
In the case of our animals, I muscle test the product against the being, and if needed, rarely is the animal taking the product long term. It is about supporting the body back into balance, and then the product is no longer needed.
Dr. Steve Chaney, is big proponent of a multi-vitamin versus single vitamin use so that ratio between the minerals and vitamins is maintained, as there is a synergy which is paramount with a lot of minerals for example – calcium for absorption into the bones, phosphorous and magnesium are required.
The trouble I find is, most muti-vitamins I come across, even from the well intentioned, do not test well at all. If you have any questions, please reach out, as new information comes across my way all the time.
